So another popular question is does acupuncture
hurt. So it’s common for people to think that since it involves needles it must be
uncomfortable. Because their whole history with needles is hypodermic needles which are
inevitably uncomfortable because they are quite large and are hollow because you’re
pushing liquid through them and into tissue. That’s frequently where the pain comes from.
Acupuncture is completely different from that. The needles are very very thin, like they’re
as thin as a human hair. Most people don’t feel them at all; in fact I’d say that about
ninety to ninety five percent of the people fall asleep when they’re here. So they don’t
feel them and they find it enormously relaxing and I almost want to tell people that if it
hurt they wouldn’t 1) be coming in regularly and they wouldn’t be falling asleep.
